Red Algae effects the other plants living in the water by depleting nutrients and sun light available to the other plants. This causes them to suffer as well and for some to die. It is dependent on how severe the out break of Red Algae is. |
Does Pollution cause Red Tides?
Red tides are unpredictable and the causes of them are not entirely known, however, red tides have been occurring more frequently. Some factors that may contribute to the blooms are reduced salinity (salt), optimal light and nutrients, warm surface temperatures, and pollution. |
